Dr. Evil would be VERY happy!
Now, THESE are henchmen you can rely on! "Lasers", on their frickin heads (or, at least, out of his eyes)! If Austin had to go up against Kologarn, there's no WAY he judo chops Dr. Evil into submission. TDC, however, did adminster the Judo Chop of Ultimate Doom to our new friend Kologarn, and puts another Ulduar boss on the tally.
Kologarn, like every boss we've seen so far in Ulduar, requires solid raid coordination around healing, add control, and dps. It also requires raid members be on their toes to avoid the dreaded eye beam lasers he periodically discharges. The fight on 25 has a cramped feeling, and raid members need to manage the space more effectively than is required in 10 man. The mechanice of the fight are straight forward with two phases. The first phase consists of focused dps on Kolo's right arm; after the arm is destroyed, P2 starts. P2 drops a number of adds on the raid. These adds are controlled by tanks, then AoE'd down. Certain mechanics (such as petrifying breath) require better execution than a simple Tank and DPS AoE-fest, but once that's coordinated, Kolo's death is just a matter of time.
With Razorscale, XT-002, and Kologarn down this week, TDC will likely focus on new bosses during the next raid lockout. We're pleased with our progress in only 6 hours of Ulduar-25 raiding so far, and are looking forward to the challenges to come!
